Once again, rapper Jay-Z has been sucked into a lawsuit. The multi-platinum recording artist and business mogul, along with Rocawear owner Iconix Brand Group have been named in a copyright infringement lawsuit over the slogan, "I Will Not Lose."
I Will Not Lose, LLC, a company that offers management services, filed the case in a Georgia federal court alleging Rocawear used their trademarked name without permission in a campaign to promote the clothing company internationally.
Jay -Z sold rights to the Rocawear brand to Iconix Brand Group last March, however it was reported in the deal the rapper would continue to oversee the product development, licensing, and marketing of the company.
According to court documents Reggie Tucker, CEO of I Will Not Lose, LLC claims his company originated the slogan first and numerous attempts requesting Rocawear to stop using the tag and to settle the matter out of court were ignored. He is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages.
